It was good to see Carl Hanneken and Lou Valli out at the range last month. Come see us again real soon!
November “Turkey” and Blanket Shoot: The November shoot will be Saturday & Sunday the 21st & 22nd. The following business meeting will be Thursday, December 3rd. Saturday will be a fun shoot and blanket shoot from 1 PM until 4 PM. Those who wish to stay overnight at the range are encouraged to do so, just don’t look for Rick or me. Sunday’s Turkey shoot will have $20 gift certificates for top shooters and $10 certificates for all others. A $5 range fee will apply.
Blanket Shoot Basics: Items for the blanket shoot should be: appropriate for the black powder era, preferably shooting related, hand crafted if possible, with an approximate value of $10 to $25. Each shooter will place one appropriate item on the “blanket” as an entry fee for the shoot. High shooters will get the first picks from the blanket as their prize.
SC State Shoot 2010: Tentative dates are 9 – 11 April as Easter is the 4th of April next year. We are still checking for other conflicting events so dates not set in stone just yet.
The topic of our last meeting was, again, the 2010 South Carolina State Shoot. Rick Buxton has volunteered to measure up the range, inventory our supplies, and compile a list of needed materials. We have 1x4’s, will probably need some 4x4 for posts and 2x4 for general use.
Plaques and prizes (possibility of a Hucks or Rocky knife came up) are being considered; make sure your suggestions and ideas are communicated to the club. We will be scheduling a day for range repairs once the weather cools down. We will be organizing a scoring committee and calling for registration volunteers. Stay tuned for further developments.
Other Shoots: NMLRA/NC Territorials scheduled for 29 April - 2 May 2010. Contact Buck Buchanan for more details.
For Sale:
2008 South Carolina State Shoot Shirts! S, M, & L only. $10 ea
Our last shipment of black powder is now exhausted. Lee Hoffecker has procured some bulk powder (Goex Rifle 3F) for us at a good price, about $11.25/lb. You will need to provide an empty can or cans to trade. We should have this at the October shoot. Contact the Secretary with your requirements.
Our supply of #11 CCI standard percussion caps is now exhausted. Jim Rozelle will be bringing us some from MidSouth if there are any to be had. Price will be about $4.25 - $4.50/100. They should be available for the November shoot. Contact the Secretary with your requirements.
If you have items for sale that you would like to include in the newsletter, contact the Club Secretary.
If you would prefer to receive the newsletter by E-mail, please contact the Club Secretary by E-mail. I would like to encourage those of you who can use this method of delivery to do so; mailing costs are now nearly $10 per member per year.
Please bring all newsletter, shooting schedule, and membership list corrections, additions, or deletions to the attention of the Secretary, Dennis Darling.
